The large-scale, dual-mode Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant is the first of its kind in Singapore, with an innovative design situating treatment equipment completely underground and featuring a lush green rooftop for community recreation.

What are the opening hours?

The KMEDP Green Roof is open from 8am to 9pm daily (last entry at 8pm). The green roof may be temporarily closed for 1 hour or longer if it is overcrowded.

How do I get to KMEDP by public transport?

The nearest MRT station is Mountbatten MRT. From the station, take Exit B and walk towards the bus stop. You can take Bus Services 12, 14, 30, 158 and 196 and alight at the bus stop opposite the Costa Rhu Condominium. From there, it is a 20-minute walk to KMEDP. Part of KMEDP’s design philosophy is to create a green, car-free community that is cyclist and pedestrian-friendly. Hence, please note there are no carparks available at KMEDP and the nearest carpark is the Fort Road carpark about 1.5km away. From the Fort Road carpark, it is a 15-minute walk along the Park Connector Network to reach KMEDP.

In terms of accessibility, the Park Connector Network adjacent to KMEDP will also connect the recreational spaces of East Coast Park to Gardens by the Bay East.

How do I get to KMEDP by car/taxi? Are there carparks at KMEDP?

What are the safe distancing measures? Is scanning of the Safe Entry QR code required for admission to the green roof?

To ensure the safety of all visitors, scanning of the Safe Entry QR code at the main entrance is mandatory for entry. Safe Distancing Ambassadors will also be on duty. Members of the public are reminded to wear masks and keep 1m social distancing.

What is the maximum number of people that can safely access to green roof? Are there measures to limit the number of people, for safety?

The green roof is designed to safely accommodate more than 500 pax. However as we are currently in Phase Three, access to the green roof will be restricted to accommodate up to 100 pax. Please refer to this notice.

I want to report a medical or first aid situation. Who can I contact?

Should there be an emergency medical situation, please call 995 for the ambulance. For non-emergency medical situations, call 1777 for a private ambulance.

Can I fly kites?

Kite flying is not permitted, as KMEDP is along the flight path of Paya Lebar Airbase.

Can I fly drones?

Drone flying for both recreational and commercial purposes requires an unmanned aircraft (drone) operator flying permit from CAAS. Please also refer to CAAS website for guidelines on drone flying.

I would like to do filming/photography at KMEDP. Do I need a permit and what regulations should I take note of?

For personal/non-commercial filming/photoshoot, a permit is not required. However, please refrain from having set-ups such as chairs and fairy lights which may cause inconvenience to other visitors.

Are bicycles, scooters and roller blades allowed?

Bicycles, scooters and roller blades are not allowed at all areas of KMEDP. You may park your bicycles along the Promenade of the Park Connector Network. Please refer to this notice on the activities allowed at KMEDP and the advisories onsite.

Are soccer/rugby/other ball games allowed?

Are pets allowed?

Pets are not allowed at KMEDP.

Smoking is not allowed at all areas of KMEDP, and there are no designated smoking areas.

Will members of the public be able to access the Viewing Gallery in the plant?

As the Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant is a critical infrastructure facility, the viewing gallery will not be open to the public.

Can members of the public book the green roof for private events?

The green roof is shared space open to the public for community recreation. Members of the public are not able to make private bookings for the green roof.

Are there toilet and/or shower facilities?

KMEDP has a public toilet open to public. There are no public shower facilities.

Are there any food or drinks available?

There are no food or drinks for sale.

Can I get my own food catering services?

The green roof is shared space open to the public for community recreation. Members of the public are not able to hold their own private event or engage catering services at the green roof.

Can I sell food and drinks?

As the Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant is a critical infrastructure facility, members of the public are not able to sell food and drinks at the green roof.

Can I have a picnic?
